Names from Jupiter Ascending

I just saw "Jupiter Ascending" and while it was not a cinematic masterpiece it was exactly what I wanted it to be: fun. It was great to just go and see something and not have to worry about taking it too seriously. It also had an abundance of weird and wonderful names, though I think my favorite is undoubtedly that of the heroine, Jupiter Jones.

  1. Jupiter Jones would be great, but on a boy. Its just wrong on a girl

    1. While Jupiter is originally a God, it is also a planet (which was indeed named after said God). However, I don't think most people know that was what if was named for, or think of the God. So it is also a nature name, which to me makes it pretty unisex. And honestly, I think Jupiter wears much better on a girl than on a boy.

    2. No, I agree with the original comment. Jupiter in and of itself is masculine. And your argument against that: 'also a nature name so that makes it unisex' is universally flawed as, based on such logic, that would make the likes of Rose and Lily unisex as well.

    3. And so what if they were? If girls can be named James and Wyatt, why can't we name our boys Rose? Or Jade? Flowers and plants don't have genders, and it is sad that anything that could be slightly feminine is "wrong" for boys. That's backwards. But it's only names, not the end of the world if somebody uses a name we don't like or we don't think goes on the right sex.

    4. NO ONE is using feminine names on boys, or even unisex ones so that statement is moot. Right now the gender-bending trend is one way and, currently, a symbol of sexism as it reinforces the old 'masculinity is great and strong' and 'feminine is weak and subpar' stereotypes. So forgive me if I do not support Jupiter Jones on a woman...

    5. That was exactly my point, but please, take it as you wish.
